2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year Landon Cassill, set to Run the ASA Late Model South race at South Georgia Motorsports Park.

ASALMS – Lexington, MI – March 19th 2009

Landon Cassill and High Performance Motorsports have announced that they have teamed up to race the “Short Track Nationals Georgia 100” at South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP). Cassill will compete in the #61 LS3 powered Chevy Impala SS.

Cassill has had some success at SGMP, in 2007 Cassill won the ASA Late Model South race to become the first ever to win a race in all division of ASA Late Model competition (ASA Late Model North, Challenge and South).

“I really like the track, it’s wide and fast and has 2 grooves to race in, plus I’ve won here so that always helps. I’m looking forward to racing the new LS3 engine and maybe I can make history again by being the first to win a race with one” commented Cassill.

“The ASA Late Model Series is such a great place to race, I’m always excited whenever I can come and race. Teaming up with High Performance Motorsports and having Rich (Lusches) on the pit box it awesome, High Performance has great cars and having Rich call the shots is just like old times, this is going to be fun and I can’t wait” stated Cassill.

“To have these drivers come back and race when they can is great, we’ve had Stephen Leicht, Landon, and John Wes Townley who I hear may show up in a show at SGMP, come back and race means a lot to me. I’ve watched these kids grow up and have become friends with them along the way, it’s great to watch them move up and have success, without forgetting where they came from” stated series President Ron Varney.

The ASA Late Model Series has visited the SGMP every season since 2006 and have given the Georgia fans a great show each time. On July 3rd, 2006, Landon Cassill won the event, 2008 Season Champion, Jeff Choquette won the September 14th event in 2007 and our 2008 Season Champion Jimmy Lang won the September 13th 2008 event this past year.

The Georgia fans will get to experience a real showdown of talent at SGMP on March 28th at a price they can afford. Tickets are only $10 for adults and $5 for kids (6-11), five and under get in for free. This is a great night of family fun with lots of action and ‘meet and greet’ with the teams during the on-track autograph session.
